Come ben sappiamo le valvole sono dei dispositivi complessi e per il loro funzionamento vengono richiamati una serie di principi importanti (Termica, Elettronica, Fisica dei materiali e dei gas, Chimica ecc..) pensando a ciò possiamo immaginare che la valvola per raggiungere una stabilità apprezzabile ha bisogno di un buon rodaggio necessario ad assestare le sue componenti interne ed esterne (deformazioni delle parti meccaniche e saldature sottoposte a stress termoelettrico, parti chimiche e gassose, bulbo ecc.) e, cosa non da poco !! tale rodaggio dovrebbe servire anche a scartare o declassare eventuali tubi difettosi (la cosiddetta mortalità infantile delle prime ore di funzionamento del tubo)

i bassi costi di produzione attuali delle valvole (forse costa più controllarla ed inscatolarla che produrla) non consentono ai produttori nella maggior parte dei casi di operare collaudi di questo tipo su tutta la produzione (come una volta) alcuni grandi distributori forniscono anche valvole rodate e selezionate (a prezzi ovviamente più elevati) noi di Audiokit ne acquistiamo in gran parte già in questa modalità ma la valvole sono delicate ! il viaggio è lungo e tortuoso e non è detto che arrivino tutte sane a destinazione.......

Quindi ! preso atto di tutte le problematiche relative e con il fine di offrire un servizio ancora più accurato NOI DI AUDIOKIT abbiamo deciso di "PASSARE" o "RIPASSARE" la maggior parte delle valvole nelle fauci di uno strumento fatto costruire appositamente per lo scopo su nostro progetto, il TTA (Tubes Test Audiokit) che si occupa di scaldare/freddare ciclicamente e per un tempo da noi determinato 20 tubi contemporaneamente, successivamente le valvole vengono commutate con tempi brevissimi una per una sul prestigioso Characteristic Meter AVO VCM 163 le misure risultanti vengono eseguite REALMENTE a temperature ottimali e stabili solo in questo modo si è sicuri di ricavare parametri VERAMENTE ATTENDIBILI per la successiva selezione ed accoppiamento

Attenzione spesso non è sufficente sfilare semplicemente le valvole dallo zoccolo (peccato che non siano saldate....) e sostituirle con valvole di pari sigla o corrispondenti, chi esegue questa operazione, dovrebbe essere in grado di eseguire alcune misurazioni sull'apparechio in questione, oppure rivolgersi a personale specializzato, (a meno di non avere la fortuna di avere di fronte un'apparecchio che faccia lavorare le valvole finali con elevati margini di sicurezza !! nel tal caso..si rischia poco..)

Indipendentemente dalla selezione (matching) e della marca delle valvole, è CALDAMENTE CONSIGLIATO controllare almeno la potenza a riposo di ogni valvola tenendo conto dei parametri massimi di funzionamento della valvola stessa (classi di funzionamento, tensione anodica, tensione di polarizzazione delle griglie, correnti e potenza massima dissipata) ed eventualmente a seconda di come gli apparecchi sfruttano le valvole, declassare leggermente tali valori anche del 5-10 % (abbiamo avuto modo di verificare ottime valvole, di vari marchi, ma con parametri anche del 20 - 30% diversi, quindi non basta dire..."ma.. ..la sigla è la stessa !!")

Attenzione le valvole finali di fabbricazione attuale (quasi tutte) hanno bisogno di di un periodo di stabilizzazione che varia dalle 50 alle 150 ore, durante questo periodo i parametri Elettrici, Chimici, Meccanici, potrebbero variare, si consiglia di tenere d'occhio le tarature

Spesso si sente parlare di bias automatico.....nella maggior parte dei casi il bias è FISSO e viene stabilito dal costruttore in funzione delle prestazioni chieste e delle valvole utilizzate all'origine.

Alcuni costruttori utilizzano tensioni di griglia schermo troppo elevate per le valvole impiegate, e se non si dispone di valvole di ricambio fornite e garantite dal costruttore stesso si rischia di non riuscire a mettere in taratura le nuove valvole, o addirittura di danneggiarle, in questi casi è necessario un tecnico che sappia ripolarizzare adeguatamente le nuove valvole impiegate

è sufficiente far arrossare anche per pochi istanti una placca per compromettere definitivamente la valvola

Attenzione agli amplificatori che impiegano valvole finali in parallelo (ce ne sono anche con 5-6 coppie di valvole.....) in questi casi quando si utilizza l'amplificatore senza sfruttare al massimo la sua potenza, nemmeno ci si accorge che qualche valvola potrebbe essere danneggiata, magari si ascolta a 10W di potenza (erogabili tranquillamente da una sola coppia di tubi...) Normalmente i trasformatori di questi stadi finali, sono costruiti con impedenze molto basse sul primario (ovviamente per parallelare le valvole) provate ad immaginare cosa succede ad un push pull di EL34 (normalmente si usano dai 4000 ai 6000 ohm di impedenza) messo a lavorare su 800-1000 ohm di carico !!! è sufficiente far arrossare anche per pochi minuti una placca per compromettere definitivamente la valvola quando si esegue un retubing di questi amplificatori, sarebbe necessario sostituire in blocco tutte le valvole finali che lo compongono oppure avere l'opportunità di collaudare e misurare tutte le valvole impiegate e determinarne l'efficienza (un provavalvole NON basta)
